Wellness & Safety

Physical Health

In addition to promoting physical health through our physical education and athletics programs, St. Jude provides recess time for all students each day. Our large green space contains a playground structure, swings and Gaga Pit. We also have a large grass field for children to play soccer, football and other games. Children make use of our blacktop for  foursquare, hopscotch, jump rope, and tag. Our basketball court allows students to play basketball, knock out and tag.  Our Pre-K also makes use of our separate playground structure. These spaces become filled with snowmen and snow angels during the winter months! St. Jude is equipped with a nurse’s office and a nurse to attend to health issues. In addition to providing basic care and assistance with medications, our nurse maintains health forms and oversees vision and hearing screenings.

At St. Jude wellness and safety programs are in place to help ensure that our students are cared for, and care for each other.

Social-Emotional Health

St. Jude has a counselor that is in our building each week seeing children on an individual basis as well as instructing students in grades K-4 on topics such as friendships, study skills and solving conflicts, and in grades  6-8 on life skills topics such as internet safety, vaping and relationships.

Safety and Security

St. Jude takes the safety and security of our students seriously. In accordance with Diocesan policy, we work to ensure that all employees and volunteers having contact with our children are screened through the Diocesan Safe Environment Program. We believe it is important to regularly analyze and improve our safety processes and procedures. Routinely throughout the year, our students and staff rehearse a variety of safety drills in order to practice preparedness in case of emergency. Our safety committee meets monthly with local experts to evaluate procedures and make recommendations for our school.
