Service Commitment Program

The St. Jude School service commitment program was created to help meet the needs of the school through total involvement of the parents. The program is crucial to meeting the needs of our parochial school and in keeping tuition costs as low as possible.

All parents are required to donate a minimum of 30 hours per school year. The program runs from June 1 through May 31, although the activities run at different times. All required hours are to be earned within this time frame. If you are a parent with a child in eighth grade, your required hours must be met prior to graduation day.

The Service Commitment Program is a major part of the tuition requirement. Any family that has not met required school support hours, or who does not wish to, or is unable to participate in the program, will be assessed $10 for each uncompleted commitment hour. Please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to seek out ways to serve your hours. If you have signed up to volunteer at a certain event and you haven't been called, please call a chairperson to verify whether any more volunteers are needed for that event.

There are many activities available:

  • The Parish Festival
  • Room Mothers
  • Hot Lunch Program (HASA)
  • Market Day (HASA)

If you have difficulty leaving your home to volunteer, there are also many projects that can be done from your home. Please contact the school office if that is your situation. The hours you work should be recorded on the designated orange form that will be located in a predominant place at each event. Service hours can also be submitted online.

If you have any problems, questions or are unsure of activities, you may contact the school office.

Program Guidelines:

  • Hours are based on the time spent in the activity only.
  • You do not earn hours for travel time to and from the school for the activity or shopping for supplies for the activity.
  • Parents are urged to volunteer their time in obtaining their required hours, however, relatives may assist by volunteering for school activities.
  • Hours may be donated from one family to another. If you would like to donate some of your earned hours to another family in need, please contact the school office.
  • No one may sell, trade or in any fashion give their school support hours to another family for money.
  • Children may accompany their parents while volunteering at any event however, the final decision will be made by the chairperson of that event. Upper grade students (5-6-7-8) can volunteer and hours will qualify if they are accompanied by a parent. High school students are welcome!
  • Baking or cooking for classroom parties do not qualify however, baking for a parish fundraiser does qualify.
  • Monetary/material donations for a specific classroom event do not qualify.
